Events Industry Are Record Breakers at the UK Event Awards 2011
The UK Event Awards took place at Wembley Stadium on November 30th with over 300 event professionals from all over the UK in attendance to hear the results.
The evening kicked off with Guinness World Records co-ordinating an attempt for the World’s Largest Linked Cheers which was passed successfully. Keeping with the venue theme, the audience were then entertained by football freestylers Global Freestyle before hearing the rat-pack inspired tones of singer Paul Stone.
ITV’s Show Me the Funny winner 2011 Patrick Monahan made the crowd chuckle with his stand-up comedy routine which was then followed by the announcement of the results and entertainment by musical band Super Freak.
Big winners on the night included Cycling Scotland who scooped the Grand Prix for cycling race ‘freshnlo Pedal for Scotland’ as well as picking up an award for the same event in the Best Sports Event category.
Chairman of the judging panel Paul O’Neill of Guinness World Records awarded Sparklestreet Creative Adventures his personal choice ‘Chairman’s Award’ for event Adidas Original Street Party which took place on the set of much-loved soap Coronation Street.
The full judging panel consisted of Kate Conway of Tesco, Jackie Boughton of Wembley Stadium, Izania Downie and Jasmine Farrag of Active Network Events, Lucy Gemmell of Rhubarb, Jenny Abbot of MCI and Jan Booth of Sunbaba.
Gallowglass picked up the award for Best Event Services Supplier for the second year in a row and Lumacoustics received the accolade of Best Technical Services/ Production Company. Other winners on the night included Rapport Events, Midnight Communications, WRG Creative and LDR London.
